In a significant development in a ₹150-crore fraud case, Pushpender Singh, Deputy Vice-President of Kotak Mahindra Bank, surrendered to the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday. The investigation began after the Panchkula Municipal Corporation reported discrepancies in its fixed deposit receipts, prompting an FIR against unnamed bank officials on March 24. So far, five individuals have been arrested, including relationship manager Dalip Kumar Raghav, who allegedly submitted false reports to the municipal corporation. The vigilance bureau is currently interrogating Singh as part of the ongoing investigation. Kotak Mahindra Bank has already returned ₹127 crore to the municipal corporation and is cooperating with authorities to resolve the matter. The bank reassured that its operations remain unaffected and customer services continue as normal. This case emerges amid a backdrop of financial irregularities in Haryana, following a separate ₹590-crore fraud case involving IDFC First Bank, which has prompted a recommendation for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry.
