On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's 135th birth anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually laid the foundation stone for a project aimed at beautifying and conserving 75 statues of the Dalit icon across 75 districts of the state. The first phase will cover one statue in each district, with plans to extend the initiative to all statues located on public land. Adityanath emphasized the importance of protecting these statues to allow citizens to pay their respects without disruption. He also announced efforts to honor other social reformers, including Sant Ravidas and Maharshi Valmiki, highlighting various infrastructure projects dedicated to them. The Chief Minister criticized opposition parties, particularly the Samajwadi Party and Congress, for their alleged insincerity in advocating for Dalit rights, referencing historical incidents to support his claims. Furthermore, he mentioned the ongoing development of the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar International Cultural and Research Centre in Lucknow, which aims to promote social justice and awareness through research opportunities and public facilities.
