On Thursday, the Delhi High Court ordered the removal of the song 'Mafia Mundeer', linked to rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah, nearly two decades after its release. The court described the song as vulgar and derogatory, particularly towards women, stating that it does not meet the minimum standards of civility. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav expressed that the song's lyrics are disrespectful and dehumanizing, normalizing the objectification of women. The court emphasized that the song's presence on platforms accessible to minors cannot be justified under artistic freedom. The ruling came in response to a petition from Hindu Shakti Dal, which argued that the song promotes violence against women. The court has instructed the artists and any rights holders to ensure the song's removal from all online platforms, including YouTube and Spotify, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for May 7.
