The Delhi government's education directorate has successfully filled 48,092 seats for entry-level admissions in private unaided recognized schools under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG) categories for the academic year 2024-2025. This marks an increase from the 44,045 seats filled last year. A total of 139,524 applications were received, with 138,536 found complete. In the Children with Special Needs (CwSN) category, 988 applications were submitted for 7,609 seats, an increase from last year's 6,471 seats. Education Minister Ashish Sood noted that the decline in applicants is due to a growing preference for government schools, which reflects a positive transformation in the public education system. He mentioned that many applications were duplicates, with over 100,000 found to be multiple entries, significantly higher than the number of genuine applications. The next phase of the admission process is set to begin in three days.
