The fee for a new OCI application is set at $275, which must be paid in the equivalent amount in Indian Rupees (₹15,000) for applications submitted within India. For applicants outside India, the payment must also be made in $275 through a demand draft or equivalent method as per the Indian mission's requirements. Additional fees include $100 for duplicate cards due to loss or damage, and $25 for miscellaneous services like changes in personal particulars. The demand draft must be made in favor of the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure uniform processing. The OCI scheme, established in August 2005, allows Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to register as Overseas Citizens of India, with certain restrictions on citizenship eligibility. Applicants are advised to check the official websites of their respective Indian missions for accurate fee amounts in local currencies and details on the application process.
