Tamim Iqbal has been appointed as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after the government removed Aminul Islam Bulbul amid ongoing unrest within the organization. The National Sports Council (NSC) of Bangladesh dissolved the existing board following a series of resignations, including six directors, largely due to the fallout from the T20 World Cup fiasco. Bulbul's tenure faced criticism after interim government advisor Asif Nazrul's controversial actions, which included holding the former skipper hostage and attempting to shift Bangladesh's T20 matches from India to Sri Lanka. Tamim, now the youngest BCB chief, will oversee an 11-member ad-hoc committee that includes notable figures such as former captain Minhajul Abedin and commentator Athar Ali Khan. The NSC has communicated these changes to the International Cricket Council (ICC), which typically opposes government interference in cricket boards but is unlikely to impose sanctions given the announced timeline for new elections.
