The Basara Gnana Saraswati Temple, located in Basara, Telangana, is undergoing a major renovation with a budget of ₹225 Crores (approximately $27 million USD). This temple, revered for its association with the goddess Saraswati and the traditional ceremony of Aksharabhyasam, will see the construction of a nine-storey Rajagopuram (main tower) and expanded facilities to accommodate the growing number of visitors. The temple's built-up area will increase from 20,000 square feet to 62,000 square feet, featuring new meditation halls, a sacred pond, and enhanced access routes. The project is designed in consultation with spiritual leaders to ensure adherence to traditional practices. The renovations aim to improve visitor amenities significantly, especially in anticipation of the Godavari Pushkaralu, a major pilgrimage event, scheduled for June 2024. The Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, will perform the Bhoomi Puja (groundbreaking ceremony) to initiate the construction work.
