Raipur, Chhattisgarh, became the center of India's tribal sports movement with the Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) 2026. Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Khadse, praised the event as a powerful symbol of change, emphasizing its role in empowering tribal youth. With over 2,500 athletes from various states and Union Territories, the Games showcased the Central Government's commitment to providing a platform for tribal talent. Khadse noted the encouraging response from participants and the community, highlighting that the Games signify recognition and support for these athletes at the national level. She attributed the success of KITG 2026 to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who declared the eradication of Naxalism in the region. Khadse also pointed out the importance of the Asmita League, which aims to enhance women's participation in sports, noting that 60 to 70% of girls competing in hockey and football were Asmita League alumni. The event not only showcases tribal talent but also reflects a sustained governmental focus on inclusion and structured support for youth and women in sports.
