On Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced a significant development package worth ₹516 crore (approximately $62 million USD) for Hoshiarpur district, Punjab. This initiative emphasizes expanding healthcare infrastructure and enhancing regional connectivity. Mann criticized the Congress and Akali Dal parties, labeling them as 'termites' that have 'ruined' Punjab through corrupt practices and neglect for over 70 years. He asserted that his government has made substantial progress in just four years, fulfilling promises made to the public. A highlight of the package is the proposed Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences, which will be constructed at a cost of ₹268 crore and includes a 300-bed hospital and facilities to train 100 MBBS students annually. Additionally, a 30-bed Community Health Centre will be established to serve over 40 villages. Mann also announced a ₹99 crore road project to improve connectivity between Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir, further enhancing access for pilgrims. Overall, the projects reflect the government's commitment to improving essential services and promoting balanced regional development.
