Felix Zwayer, a 44-year-old referee, has been officially named as the only German referee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This marks Zwayer's debut at the World Cup level, following his experience officiating the semi-final match between England and the Netherlands during the 2024 UEFA European Championship. He will be joined by assistant referees Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz. Additionally, Bastian Dankert has been selected as one of the 30 video assistant referees, having previously served in this capacity during FIFA's initial adoption of VAR technology in earlier tournaments.
