On April 9, Rathan U Kelkar, the Chief Electoral Officer of Kerala, expressed confidence that the state could achieve a 90% voter turnout in the ongoing elections. He noted a steady increase in participation, with turnout rising from 16.23% at 9 am to 49.70% by 1 pm. Kelkar confirmed that voting has been peaceful across the state, which has more than 30,000 polling stations. He highlighted that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll has positively influenced voter turnout. While there were minor delays at two polling booths due to electronic voting machine (EVM) issues, no significant problems were reported. To make the experience sweeter for first-time voters, halwa was offered at select polling booths, although some reported not receiving it.
