The child experienced symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and weight loss for nearly two years before receiving a diagnosis, during which time significant damage occurred to her pancreas, leading to early onset diabetes. Dr. Amit Javed, a specialist at the hospital, noted that while chronic pancreatitis is uncommon in children, there is a growing trend of adult-type chronic diseases being identified in younger patients, often due to genetic mutations or metabolic disorders. After medication proved ineffective, doctors performed a minimally invasive surgery to relieve pressure in the pancreatic duct, resulting in a significant improvement in the child's health. She reported relief from pain and was able to return to school within weeks. Experts warn that parents should be vigilant for warning signs such as recurrent abdominal pain and unexplained weight loss, as delays in diagnosis can lead to serious long-term complications.
