S. Ramadoss, the founder and leader of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), collapsed during an election campaign in Pallapatti, Salem district, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday. The 86-year-old politician was campaigning for candidate Arul when he fell unconscious. Immediate assistance from police and local leaders ensured he received first aid before being transported to a hospital for further care. His health status remains under observation, with updates pending. In the lead-up to the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Ramadoss unveiled the PMK's manifesto, which aims to address critical issues in education, health, and safety. He emphasized the need for free education up to class 12 and improved healthcare services, claiming that Tamil Nadu faces significant challenges despite its progressive reputation. Ramadoss also noted alarming crime statistics, stating that over 8,700 murders occurred in the past five years, including 1,900 women. The PMK plans to phase out liquor shops and establish an anti-drug department, as well as create one crore jobs. The elections will take place on April 23, with results announced on May 4.
