Herrera, who redshirted this past season, brings three years of eligibility to the Scarlet Knights. As a true freshman, he achieved a record of 29-15 and placed fifth at the Big 12 Championships, earning a national qualifier spot, although he did not win any matches at the NCAA Championships. He will take over the heavyweight position from Hunter Catka, who recently transferred to Virginia Tech after a close loss in the blood round. Additionally, Rutgers has secured a commitment from Lukas Zalota, a highly regarded junior heavyweight from Malvern Prep, further solidifying their future in the heavyweight category.
