The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) experienced a 3% rise in its stock price, reaching ₹2,748.15, following an upgrade from a foreign broker, which changed its rating from 'equal weight' to 'overweight' and increased the 12-month target price from ₹2,550 to ₹3,270. The broker noted that MCX's business model is well-suited to benefit from the heightened volatility in commodity prices, particularly since the onset of the Iran war. This volatility typically leads to increased trading volumes, making MCX well-positioned as Indian equities face a broader decline. As the largest commodity derivatives exchange in India, MCX commands approximately 98% of the market share in commodity futures, offering a diverse range of trading options across various segments, including bullion, energy, metals, and agricultural commodities. In its latest financial report for Q3 FY26, MCX reported a remarkable 150.63% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit, totaling ₹401.12 crore, compared to ₹160.04 crore in Q3 FY25, with operational income also rising by 120.85% to ₹665.62 crore.
