The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has appointed Manzoor ul Hasan, a former Olympian, as the new head coach, replacing Colin Batch. This unexpected decision has left players stunned, with some expressing concerns that it could lead to poor performance in the upcoming FIH Pro Nations League and the World Cup. A player, who wished to remain anonymous, described the change as a 'recipe for disaster', noting that Batch's modern coaching expertise was crucial for the team. The PHF also announced a new national selection committee headed by Samiullah Khan, along with other selectors including Naeem Akhtar and Kashif Jawad. Pakistan recently qualified for the World Cup, which will take place in Belgium and the Netherlands in August, after an eight-year absence from the tournament. The appointments were made based on recommendations from the PHF Professional Development Committee, which includes former captains Hasan Sardar and Islahuddin Siddiqui. Additionally, Ayaz Mahmood has been named head coach of the Pakistan junior team.
