In a press conference held on April 12, M V Govindan, the Kerala secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), dismissed claims that the voter turnout in the April 9 Assembly elections indicates anti-incumbency against the Left Democratic Front (LDF). He stated that such interpretations lack evidence and expressed confidence that the LDF will secure a decisive mandate, aiming to cross the 90-seat mark for a third consecutive term. Govindan noted that the electorate size had decreased significantly due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, leading to a lower number of registered voters. Approximately 78.27% of those on the updated electoral rolls participated in the elections, although he pointed out that the total votes cast were marginally lower than in the previous Assembly elections. He also alleged that rival parties attempted to influence voters through malpractice, including the distribution of money. Despite these challenges, Govindan praised party workers for their efforts during the campaign, emphasizing that their outreach and the government's development agenda have resonated positively with the electorate.
