Dattatray Gunjal managed to enter the Maharashtra Assembly in Mumbai during a budget session by creating a fake pass that designated him as an 'Advisor, Department of Honourable Chief Minister.' This breach occurred amidst a session attended by key officials, including the Chief Minister. Gunjal obtained a blank admission card, handwrote the designation, and stamped it as a legitimate pass. Alongside him, five other individuals, including government employees, were involved in a scheme that produced 30 forged passes using fake letterheads of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). These passes were sold for ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 each. The scam was uncovered on March 16, when Industries Minister Uday Samant alerted the Legislative Council about the illegal sales. Following an internal inquiry, police arrested the six suspects, whose bail pleas were subsequently rejected by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate K S Zanwar, citing the serious security implications of their actions.
