India's initial public offering (IPO) market is showing resilience despite global volatility, as stated by Nipun Goel, head of investment banking at IIFL Capital. So far in 2026, 18 mainboard IPOs have raised a total of ₹18,778 crore (approximately $2.25 billion USD). Goel predicts a surge in IPO filings in the latter half of the year, similar to last year's trend where 85 IPOs were launched in the second half. Major companies expected to debut include Zepto, Reliance Jio, and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). In 2025, around 103 companies listed on the mainboard, raising between ₹1.75-1.8 trillion (approximately $21-22 billion USD). However, geopolitical tensions, particularly the US-Iran war, have led to a cautious approach among firms, with many delaying their IPO plans. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has responded by extending the validity of IPO approvals until 30 September 2026 for companies that comply with regulatory requirements. Goel emphasized that while market volatility is impacting IPO timelines, private equity is expected to remain active, as investors seek opportunities amid the current climate.
