India is actively working to deepen its energy cooperation with the United States, particularly in the realms of nuclear power, coal gasification, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exports. This initiative comes as India seeks to mitigate supply constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in Iran and diversify its energy sources. During a recent three-day visit to Washington, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri discussed these priorities with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The discussions aimed at enhancing energy security and expanding bilateral energy trade, as highlighted by the Indian embassy. US Ambassador to India, Sergei Gor, expressed Washington's readiness to collaborate on civil nuclear energy projects following India's passage of the SHANTI Act, which opens the civil nuclear sector to private investment. In addition to energy discussions, Gor noted the growing defense cooperation between the two nations. Following his visit to the US, Misri is scheduled to travel to Paris and Berlin for further bilateral consultations covering a range of topics, including defense, technology, and green energy.
