Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has officially handed over a land allotment letter for 75 hectares in the Chitrakoot node of the Defence Industrial Corridor to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). This initiative is part of a broader strategy to position Uttar Pradesh as a key player in defence manufacturing. BEL plans to invest approximately ₹562.5 crore (around $68 million USD) to establish an advanced manufacturing unit focused on radar and air defence systems. The project is expected to generate over 300 direct jobs and create substantial indirect employment opportunities in related sectors. Adityanath emphasized that this development will not only enhance local employment prospects but also foster a self-reliant defence industrial ecosystem in India, reducing reliance on imports. The Chitrakoot node is strategically located in central India, offering excellent logistics connectivity, which is vital for the growth of the defence sector. This initiative aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) vision, aiming to promote indigenous production capabilities and technological innovation, thereby contributing to the overall economic growth of the Bundelkhand region.
