Dhurandhar 2, a spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh, has set a new benchmark in Indian cinema by crossing ₹1000 crore (approximately $120 million USD) at the domestic box office on April 5, just 18 days after its release. This film joins the elite ranks of only two other films, Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2, that have achieved similar success. In its first two weeks, Dhurandhar 2 earned ₹938 crore, and its earnings surged further with a 20% increase on its third Friday, bringing its total to ₹1002 crore. The film's success is attributed to high ticket prices, averaging ₹360-380, which are the highest in Indian cinema history. It has sold approximately 3.2 crore tickets, positioning it to potentially surpass Pathaan's ticket sales. Despite the challenges posed by competition from OTT platforms and reduced theater attendance, Dhurandhar 2's achievement is remarkable, especially considering it did not have the support of family audiences due to its A-rating. Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film features a star-studded cast including R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt.
