V.D. Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition in Kerala, has criticized the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government's 10-year progress report, labeling it as misleading and baseless. He pointed out that the original report, initially 328 pages, has been condensed to just 24 pages. Satheesan emphasized that the LDF government took 10 years to construct 5 lakh houses for the poor, despite a promise made in 2016 to complete this in five years. In contrast, the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government, led by Oommen Chandy, built 4.43 lakh houses within five years and initiated construction on an additional 50,000. Furthermore, Satheesan criticized the LDF for not fulfilling its election manifesto promise to increase social security pensions to ₹2500, with only a ₹400 increase to ₹2000 implemented just before the upcoming local body elections in 2025. He also noted that the LDF failed to raise the support price of rubber as promised. Additionally, Satheesan dismissed the LDF's claims regarding the fishing community and land issues in Idukki district, and he criticized the government's handling of the Vizhinjam international seaport project, asserting that all groundwork was laid during the UDF's tenure. Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala echoed these sentiments, suggesting the progress report was a tactic to mislead voters ahead of the Assembly elections.
