Anil Kadam, a 55-year-old farmer from Nashik, India, experienced persistent weakness starting in November 2025, which was initially attributed to his demanding work. However, his condition deteriorated, leading to hospital visits where critical blood tests revealed severe anaemia and internal bleeding. An endoscopy and biopsy confirmed a gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST), a rare cancer of the digestive tract, with a 14 cm tumour affecting multiple organs. Following unsuccessful medical therapy, Kadam underwent a high-risk surgery at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, led by oncologist Dr. Deepak Chhabra. The complex procedure involved a multivisceral resection to remove the tumour and affected organs in one piece, ensuring oncological safety. Surgeons successfully reconstructed his digestive system, and Kadam was discharged nine days post-surgery. This case emphasizes the need for awareness of subtle symptoms and the importance of early diagnosis in improving cancer treatment outcomes.
