Samrat Choudhary has made history by becoming the first chief minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar. He was unanimously elected by the BJP legislature party and endorsed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as the coalition leader. Choudhary, who has served as the state's deputy chief minister since January 2024, will be sworn in on Wednesday morning. This transition follows the resignation of Nitish Kumar, who has held the chief minister position for two decades and is now moving to the Rajya Sabha. Kumar reflected on his tenure, highlighting the development progress in Bihar, and pledged support for the new government. Choudhary, a member of the Koeri community, has a rich political background, having started his career in the 1990s and joining the BJP in 2017.
