The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) reported that it has maintained key operational performance metrics despite ongoing geopolitical disruptions in West Asia. Import container dwell time improved from 25.17 hours in February 2026 to 22.68 hours in March 2026, showcasing enhanced cargo clearance efficiency. JNPA's Direct Port Delivery (DPD) and Direct Port Entry (DPE) initiatives are performing well, with DPD at 74.57% and DPE at 45.74% during the financial year 2026. The average turnaround time for vessels stands at 22.61 hours, indicating effective vessel handling amidst challenges. Notably, transhipment container handling volumes increased from 5% to 16%, yet JNPA has managed to maintain operational efficiency. The port is currently utilizing only about 50% of its container holding space and has allocated an additional 9.2 acres for export container storage. JNPA is also working towards enhancing its infrastructure to handle up to 12 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the future.
