On April 13, 2023, the Thiruvananthapuram city police raided a two-wheeler rental service in Pazhavangadi that was operating without the necessary license. Following a tip-off from the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, officials discovered over 100 two-wheelers and five cars at the location. The firm was found to be violating regulations by renting out private vehicles that had been taken as collateral for loans. Additionally, police discovered around 200 litres of petrol stored in cans on the premises. The owner of the rental service, who is currently absconding, is also an accused in a murder case. The police have shut down the operation and stated that further legal action will be taken in consultation with the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD).
