Babita Singh Chauhan, chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission, indicated that the commission is open to revisiting the acquittal of a college professor accused of sexually exploiting female students, provided that the complainants or affected parties reach out to them. The professor was acquitted by a court in Hathras on March 24, citing a lack of evidence and the absence of corroboration from the alleged victims. The case emerged from an FIR filed in March 2025, following an anonymous complaint that included photographs of the professor allegedly behaving inappropriately with students. However, during the trial, none of the witnesses confirmed the allegations, and only one victim provided a statement. The court's ruling noted that the allegations could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and suggested the possibility of fabricated evidence aimed at implicating the professor, who had previously absconded before being arrested in Prayagraj.
