SC Films International has acquired the worldwide sales rights for 'Fujiko,' the second feature film by Japanese director Kimura Taichi, known for his debut film 'Afterglows,' which won the best director prize at the 2023 Barcelona Asian Film Festival. Produced by Megumi, whose Netflix series 'Badly in Love' gained significant popularity, 'Fujiko' features an ensemble cast led by Katayama Yuki and includes veteran actors such as Lily Franky, You, and Ogata Issey. The film is set in Shizuoka, Japan, during the 1970s and ’80s, and follows a single mother's journey for personal freedom amidst societal changes. The film's soundtrack features contributions from Tsuneta Daiki of King Gnu and Popal Daoud Akira of Kikagaku Moyo. 'Fujiko' will have its world premiere at the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy and will also be showcased at the Cannes Film Market.
