On Monday afternoon, a bank robbery occurred at the Punjab National Bank in Jalandhar, Punjab, where two masked robbers stole ₹6,27,700 in just two minutes. The alleged mastermind, Simranjit Singh, is the son of a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police and has a history of criminal activity. Following the robbery, police recovered ₹3 lakh and arrested Singh, who is reportedly a drug addict. The incident unfolded when one robber, armed with a pistol, threatened the cashier while the other stood guard with a sharp weapon. The robbery was facilitated by the absence of a security guard at the bank during the afternoon hours, a detail that the robbers had previously noted. Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur confirmed that three employees and three customers were present during the incident, which was recorded by the bank's CCTV cameras. A manhunt is currently underway for Singh's accomplice.
