Anthropic has appointed Vas Narasimhan, the CEO of Novartis, to its board of directors, enhancing its governance with life sciences expertise. Narasimhan, who has a notable background in medicine and regulation, has overseen the development of over 35 novel medicines during his tenure at Novartis. His appointment, made by Anthropic’s Long-Term Benefit Trust, gives Trust-appointed directors a majority on the board. This governance model emphasizes long-term scientific and ethical stewardship in AI decision-making. Narasimhan's insights into highly regulated pharmaceutical systems align with Anthropic's focus on safe and disciplined AI deployment.
