Chowdhury is contesting the Assembly elections after a gap of 30 years, facing competition from the BJP's Subrata Moitra and TMC's Naru Gopal Mukherjee. The elections in West Bengal will be conducted in two phases, with polling scheduled for April 23 and April 29, and vote counting on May 4.
