The Basic Education Department in Uttar Pradesh, India, has introduced new guidelines allowing state-run schools to create their own timetables while ensuring the completion of the curriculum. Under these directives, primary schools must allocate one daily period for language and mathematics, while upper primary schools are required to include periods for mathematics, English, and science. To improve teaching effectiveness for students in classes 6-8, schools are encouraged to allocate one 40-minute period per week to utilize digital resources from Khan Academy. Each period will consist of lesson revision, instruction, and consolidation of key points. Additionally, 30 minutes will be set aside for the distribution of the PM Poshan (formerly mid-day meal).
