The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has announced that former Rizin Fighting Federation champion Kai Asakura (21-6) will face Cameron Smotherman (12-6) at UFC Macau, also known as UFC Fight Night 277, on May 30, 2026. This matchup is particularly significant as both fighters are looking to end their current losing streaks. Asakura, who has struggled since his UFC debut in 2024, is returning to bantamweight after suffering two defeats in the Octagon. He previously held the Rizin bantamweight title before being submitted by Alexandre Pantoja in his first UFC title shot. Smotherman, who fainted during the weigh-ins for UFC 324, is competing outside the United States for the first time in his 18-fight career. He won his promotional debut in 2024 but has since lost two consecutive fights. The event will take place at the Galaxy Arena in Macau, a special administrative region in China.
