In a surprising turn of events, Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara has issued an apology to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after previously filing a lawsuit against the board for denying him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) needed to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Thushara expressed that his intention was not to cause inconvenience but to seek fairness and justice, feeling he had been treated unfairly. The SLC had declined his request for an NOC, citing his failure to pass fitness tests. Following Thushara's legal action, the SLC informed the District Court that they would file objections to his application for court intervention, which would allow him to participate in the 2026 IPL. The court has accepted the SLC's plea, with the next hearing set for April 23. Thushara, who has played 30 T20 international matches since 2022, was slated to join the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the current IPL season, having previously participated in the tournaments for the years 2024 and 2025.
