The Indian-flagged gas carrier Green Sanvi has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, transporting approximately 46,650 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). This development comes amidst heightened tensions in the region following the outbreak of conflict between the US-Israel and Iran on February 28. The Indian Navy has been placed on alert to support merchant vessels in the area. Meanwhile, the Indian Petroleum Ministry has assured that the country's crude oil and LPG supplies remain secure, despite claims to the contrary. Another LPG vessel, Sea Bird, carrying around 44,000 metric tonnes of Iranian LPG, successfully berthed at Mangalore, Karnataka, India on April 2. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways is closely monitoring the situation, with 18 Indian vessels and approximately 485 seafarers currently in the Persian Gulf, ensuring their safety and coordinating with various stakeholders. The ongoing conflict has led to concerns over global fuel supplies, prompting India to maintain operational normalcy at its ports.
