The much-anticipated Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway is set to open on April 28, providing a major upgrade for commuters between these two cities in Uttar Pradesh, India. Currently, the 94-kilometer journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours due to heavy traffic on National Highway 27. The new 63-kilometer expressway will allow for travel times of only 30 to 45 minutes at speeds up to 120 km/h, significantly improving road safety and efficiency. However, the toll charges have increased dramatically, with a one-way trip for cars now costing ₹275 (approximately $3.30 USD), compared to the previous ₹95. The toll rates for other vehicles have also been adjusted, with light commercial vehicles facing a charge of ₹445, and buses and trucks up to ₹935. The expressway will only permit four-wheelers and heavy vehicles, excluding two-wheelers and three-wheelers to maintain smooth traffic flow. This project is expected to greatly benefit daily commuters, business travelers, and transport operators, enhancing connectivity and economic activity in the region.
