He surpassed the previous record held by Chris Gayle, who reached the milestone in 343 innings. Babar accomplished this during his 351st match while playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Karachi Kings. To enter the exclusive 12,000-run club, Babar needed only 13 runs, which he secured in the fourth over of his innings. He finished the match unbeaten on 87 runs off 51 balls, contributing to Zalmi's impressive total of 246 runs. The Karachi Kings, in response, were bowled out for just 87 runs. This remarkable achievement makes Babar the second Pakistani batter to cross the 12,000-run mark in T20s, following veteran Shoaib Malik, who holds the record for the most T20 runs by a Pakistani player.
