In Chennai, postal voting for senior citizens and differently-abled voters is set for April 15, with April 16 as an additional day for those unable to vote on the first day. This initiative, part of the Election Commission's efforts for inclusive participation in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, will cover 16 constituencies. A total of 23,415 senior citizens aged over 85 and 12,501 differently-abled voters have been identified, with 8,947 opting for the postal ballot facility by submitting Form 12D. To ensure a smooth process, 96 polling teams will be deployed to collect votes from voters' homes, each comprising polling officers, a police officer, a videographer, and a micro-observer. Voters will be informed in advance about the timing of the polling teams' visits. Authorities are committed to conducting the voting process freely, fairly, and confidentially. Additionally, polling personnel will cast their postal ballots between April 16 and 17 at designated centers. Training for polling teams was conducted on April 8 to ensure adherence to electoral guidelines.
