The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department is preparing to launch a new scheme titled ‘Management of Tigers Outside Tiger Reserves: Strategies to Deal with Human–Tiger Conflict’ in 2025-26. This initiative is part of a pan-India pilot project addressing man-animal conflict across 40 forest divisions in nine states. The first phase will be implemented in the South Kheri, Bijnor, Pilibhit, and Bahraich Forest Divisions. The project, funded by the National CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority), aims to develop rapid response protocols, technological monitoring tools, and community outreach strategies to mitigate conflicts. Uttar Pradesh has reported 62 deaths due to man-animal conflict in the past year, highlighting the urgency of this initiative. The scheme will also focus on using modern technologies such as AI, drones, and camera traps, while engaging local communities in tiger conservation efforts to ensure coexistence and protect livelihoods.
