In addition, beginning in August, all staff will transition to a weekly pay schedule from the current bi-monthly system. This change is expected to increase employees' earnings by an average of 5% to 8%, with the overall compensation package for hourly roles valued at around $30 per hour. Customers will also benefit from these changes, as Starbucks introduces tipping options through its mobile app, making it easier for patrons to reward good service. The company is also planning a leadership training initiative to promote internal talent, aiming to fill 90% of retail leadership positions from within.
