The Gujarat government has launched the RTE admission 2026 process, allowing parents to apply online for free Class 1 seats in private schools under the Right to Education Act. The application window is open from April 4 to April 17, 2026, with over 84,000 seats available, a decrease from last year's 94,000. This initiative aims to provide educational access to children from economically weaker and middle-income families, with 25% of seats in private schools reserved for eligible students. The breakdown includes more than 41,000 seats in Gujarati medium, 40,262 in English medium, and 2,235 in Hindi medium. New eligibility criteria prioritize children from reserved categories and allow parents to choose school shifts. Required documents for the application include proof of date of birth, residence, and income certificates. After the application period ends, seat allotment will follow the revised guidelines, with parents encouraged to check the official portal for updates.
