Trevor Bauer, who has not played in Major League Baseball (MLB) since 2021 due to a 194-game suspension related to sexual assault allegations, has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. The 35-year-old right-hander will be the Ducks' opening-night starter on April 21 at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, New York. Ducks President Michael Pfaff praised Bauer's talent and knowledge, indicating that his presence will enhance the team and provide him an opportunity to attract attention from MLB clubs. Bauer, who won the 2020 National League Cy Young Award while with the Cincinnati Reds, has a career record of 83-69 and a 3.79 ERA over ten MLB seasons. He was initially suspended for 324 games but had his suspension reduced after an independent arbitrator's ruling. Following his release from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bauer played professionally in Japan and Mexico. He plans to engage fans by wearing a microphone during games, offering unprecedented access to Ducks baseball.
