M. Swaraj, a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretariat in Kerala, expressed concerns about the Congress party's potential transition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at the Lenin Centre in Kochi, he highlighted instances where Congress MLAs have defected to the BJP in states like Goa and Karnataka, suggesting that a similar fate could befall Kerala. Swaraj emphasized that the Congress's historical pattern of alignment with the BJP does not require electoral failure, citing past defections even after victories. He also criticized the Congress over alleged irregularities in funds collected for Wayanad landslide victims, questioning their moral integrity. Additionally, he challenged Congress leader Mathew Kuzhalnadan's claims regarding the LDF government's involvement in the 2018 floods, implying that Kuzhalnadan should have pursued legal action if he believed his accusations were valid.
