In February 2026, Bharti Airtel led the Indian telecom market by adding 48.5 lakh new subscribers, marking its third consecutive month at the top. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), the total number of telecom subscribers in India rose to an all-time high of 132.13 crore, reflecting a monthly growth rate of 0.56%. Airtel's growth comprised 48.5 lakh in the wireless segment and 2.31 lakh in the wireline segment. In comparison, Reliance Jio added 17.41 lakh subscribers, with 16.24 lakh in mobile and 1.17 lakh in wireline. Vodafone Idea (Vi) reported a modest addition of 21,927 subscribers, while state-run firms BSNL and MTNL saw a decline, losing 1.01 lakh and 2,701 subscribers, respectively. The wireline subscriber count grew to 4.79 crore, while the total broadband subscribers reached 105.9 crore by the end of February 2026.
