Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed an investigation into complaints of inflated electricity bills associated with smart pre-paid meters. During a review meeting with the Energy Department, he emphasized the need for transparency and reliability in billing, noting that over 84 lakh smart meters have been installed. An expert committee will be established to investigate the over-billing issues. Adityanath highlighted the importance of consumer trust, stating that disconnections should not occur if the consumer is not at fault. He also instructed the Energy Minister and power corporation officials to inspect field arrangements and ensure prompt resolution of consumer complaints.
