Cracks have been reported on an under-construction cemented road on ATI Road in Ludhiana, Punjab, sparking concerns about the quality of municipal road works. The project, costing approximately ₹1 crore (roughly $120,000 USD), has seen cracks develop even before its completion, with residents alleging the use of substandard materials and inadequate supervision. Local residents, including Kamlesh Rani and Manjit Singh, expressed their disappointment, fearing that the road will not endure the upcoming monsoon season. In response to the complaints, Deputy Mayor Prince Johar inspected the site and ordered construction to be halted while samples of the materials are tested. He emphasized that public funds must not be wasted and warned that any discrepancies found could lead to the road being dismantled and rebuilt. Meanwhile, SDO Sandeep Chaudhary defended the construction, stating it adhered to prescribed standards with a thickness of 10 inches, and assured that any minor issues would be addressed.
