The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to explore both existing and new avenues for cooperation in cricket. Nazmul Abedin Fahim, Director of Cricket Operations at BCB, confirmed this communication, highlighting that the Indian national cricket team is scheduled to visit Bangladesh in September for a series of matches. Following this, the BCB's women's team is expected to travel to India. The letter also sought to identify further opportunities for reciprocal cricket collaborations. Tensions between the two nations had previously escalated when political objections prevented Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman from participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, leading to a boycott of the T20 World Cup by Bangladesh. However, with the recent election of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on February 12, relations between Bangladesh and India have begun to improve, as evidenced by the upcoming visit of Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, to India on April 7 and 8. This renewed dialogue suggests a potential thaw in relations, with cricket serving as a bridge for cooperation.
