In a tragic incident on Sunday morning in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, two individuals lost their lives when a truck collided with a scooter and subsequently crashed into a roadside shop. The deceased were identified as Anshika, a minor from Durga Nagar, and Kanhaiya Lal, a local fruit vendor. The accident occurred around 8:30 am near the Bhaulpur tri-junction in the Chhibramau Kotwali area. Anshika was riding her scooter to a coaching center when the speeding truck struck her from behind, dragging her under the vehicle. Following the collision, the truck overturned, trapping several individuals beneath it. Kanhaiya Lal, who was inside the shop, died instantly. The truck driver and his helper, along with Lal's sons, suffered serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. In response to the tragedy, District Magistrate Ashutosh Mohan Agnihotri announced an ex gratia payment of ₹5 lakh (roughly $6,000 USD) for the families of the deceased. Local MLA Archana Pandey and Samajwadi Party leader Arvind Singh Yadav visited the hospital, where Yadav pledged ₹1 lakh (roughly $1,200 USD) in assistance for each family. The Samajwadi Party chief, Akhilesh Yadav, expressed his condolences and urged the state government to provide ₹10 lakh (roughly $12,000 USD) in compensation to the victims' families.
