Five days after the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) launched its intensified fogging drive on April 1, significant gaps in its implementation have emerged. Despite claims of spending approximately ₹1.5 lakh (about $1,800 USD) daily on diesel, many localities, including Jopling Road, Gokhale Marg, and Gomti Nagar, report no visible fogging activity. Local corporators, such as Amit Chowdhury from Mahatma Gandhi ward, have raised concerns that even portable fogging machines are not being deployed in narrow lanes. Residents echo these concerns, noting that only select areas like Vineet Khand have received fogging services, while others remain neglected, leading to fears of diseases like dengue. LMC's chief engineer, Manoj Prabhat, stated that around 70 fogging vehicles and 100 portable machines are in use, but the lack of visible results has prompted questions about the monitoring and execution of the drive. With rising temperatures creating ideal conditions for mosquito breeding, citizens are demanding more transparency and accountability from the LMC to ensure uniform implementation of the fogging operations.
